Yeshayah 5-8

ה:א   אָשִׁירָה נָּא לִידִידִי, שִׁירַת דּוֹדִי לְכַרְמוֹ:  כֶּרֶם הָיָה לִידִידִי, בְּקֶרֶן בֶּן-שָׁמֶן.5:1 Let me sing of my well-beloved, a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My well-beloved had a vineyard in a very fruitful hill;
ב   וַיְעַזְּקֵהוּ וַיְסַקְּלֵהוּ, וַיִּטָּעֵהוּ שֹׂרֵק, וַיִּבֶן מִגְדָּל בְּתוֹכוֹ, וְגַם-יֶקֶב חָצֵב בּוֹ; וַיְקַו לַעֲשׂוֹת עֲנָבִים, וַיַּעַשׂ בְּאֻשִׁים.2 And he digged it, and cleared it of stones, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also hewed out a vat therein; and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
ג   וְעַתָּה יוֹשֵׁב יְרוּשָׁלִַם, וְאִישׁ יְהוּדָה--שִׁפְטוּ-נָא, בֵּינִי וּבֵין כַּרְמִי.3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
ד   מַה-לַּעֲשׂוֹת עוֹד לְכַרְמִי, וְלֹא עָשִׂיתִי בּוֹ:  מַדּוּעַ קִוֵּיתִי לַעֲשׂוֹת עֲנָבִים, וַיַּעַשׂ בְּאֻשִׁים.4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
ה   וְעַתָּה אוֹדִיעָה-נָּא אֶתְכֶם, אֵת אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי עֹשֶׂה לְכַרְמִי:  הָסֵר מְשׂוּכָּתוֹ וְהָיָה לְבָעֵר, פָּרֹץ גְּדֵרוֹ וְהָיָה לְמִרְמָס.5 And now come, I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; I will break down the fence thereof, and it shall be trodden down;
ו   וַאֲשִׁיתֵהוּ בָתָה, לֹא יִזָּמֵר וְלֹא יֵעָדֵר, וְעָלָה שָׁמִיר, וָשָׁיִת; וְעַל הֶעָבִים אֲצַוֶּה, מֵהַמְטִיר עָלָיו מָטָר.6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned nor hoed, but there shall come up briers and thorns; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
ז   כִּי כֶרֶם יקוק צְבָאוֹת, בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְאִישׁ יְהוּדָה, נְטַע שַׁעֲשׁוּעָיו; וַיְקַו לְמִשְׁפָּט וְהִנֵּה מִשְׂפָּח, לִצְדָקָה וְהִנֵּה צְעָקָה. 7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah the plant of His delight; and He looked for justice, but behold violence; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
ח   הוֹי, מַגִּיעֵי בַיִת בְּבַיִת--שָׂדֶה בְשָׂדֶה, יַקְרִיבוּ:  עַד אֶפֶס מָקוֹם, וְהוּשַׁבְתֶּם לְבַדְּכֶם בְּקֶרֶב הָאָרֶץ.8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no room, and ye be made to dwell alone in the midst of the land!
ט   בְּאָזְנָי, יקוק צְבָאוֹת:  אִם-לֹא בָּתִּים רַבִּים, לְשַׁמָּה יִהְיוּ--גְּדֹלִים וְטוֹבִים, מֵאֵין יוֹשֵׁב.9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts: of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
י   כִּי, עֲשֶׂרֶת צִמְדֵּי-כֶרֶם, יַעֲשׂוּ, בַּת אֶחָת; וְזֶרַע חֹמֶר, יַעֲשֶׂה אֵיפָה. 10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer shall yield an ephah.
יא   הוֹי מַשְׁכִּימֵי בַבֹּקֶר, שֵׁכָר יִרְדֹּפוּ; מְאַחֲרֵי בַנֶּשֶׁף, יַיִן יַדְלִיקֵם.11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that tarry late into the night, till wine inflame them!
יב   וְהָיָה כִנּוֹר וָנֶבֶל, תֹּף וְחָלִיל וָיַיִן--מִשְׁתֵּיהֶם; וְאֵת פֹּעַל יקוק לֹא יַבִּיטוּ, וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדָיו לֹא רָאוּ.12 And the harp and the psaltery, the tabret and the pipe, and wine, are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither have they considered the operation of His hands.
יג   לָכֵן גָּלָה עַמִּי, מִבְּלִי-דָעַת; וּכְבוֹדוֹ מְתֵי רָעָב, וַהֲמוֹנוֹ צִחֵה צָמָא.13 Therefore My people are gone into captivity, for want of knowledge; and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude are parched with thirst.
יד   לָכֵן, הִרְחִיבָה שְּׁאוֹל נַפְשָׁהּ, וּפָעֲרָה פִיהָ, לִבְלִי-חֹק; וְיָרַד הֲדָרָהּ וַהֲמוֹנָהּ וּשְׁאוֹנָהּ, וְעָלֵז בָּהּ.14 Therefore the nether-world hath enlarged her desire, and opened her mouth without measure; and down goeth their glory, and their tumult, and their uproar, and he that rejoiceth among them.
טו   וַיִּשַּׁח אָדָם, וַיִּשְׁפַּל-אִישׁ; וְעֵינֵי גְבֹהִים, תִּשְׁפַּלְנָה.15 And man is bowed down, and man is humbled, and the eyes of the lofty are humbled;
טז   וַיִּגְבַּהּ יקוק צְבָאוֹת, בַּמִּשְׁפָּט; וְהָאֵל, הַקָּדוֹשׁ, נִקְדָּשׁ, בִּצְדָקָה.16 But the LORD of hosts is exalted through justice, and God the Holy One is sanctified through righteousness.
יז   וְרָעוּ כְבָשִׂים, כְּדָבְרָם; וְחָרְבוֹת מֵחִים, גָּרִים יֹאכֵלוּ. 17 Then shall the lambs feed as in their pasture, and the waste places of the fat ones shall wanderers eat.
יח   הוֹי מֹשְׁכֵי הֶעָון, בְּחַבְלֵי הַשָּׁוְא; וְכַעֲבוֹת הָעֲגָלָה, חַטָּאָה.18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope,
יט   הָאֹמְרִים, יְמַהֵר יָחִישָׁה מַעֲשֵׂהוּ--לְמַעַן נִרְאֶה; וְתִקְרַב וְתָבוֹאָה, עֲצַת קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל--וְנֵדָעָה. 19 That say: 'Let Him make speed, let Him hasten His work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!'
כ   הוֹי הָאֹמְרִים לָרַע טוֹב, וְלַטּוֹב רָע:  שָׂמִים חֹשֶׁךְ לְאוֹר וְאוֹר לְחֹשֶׁךְ, שָׂמִים מַר לְמָתוֹק וּמָתוֹק לְמָר. 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that change darkness into light, and light into darkness; that change bitter into sweet, and sweet into bitter!
כא   הוֹי, חֲכָמִים בְּעֵינֵיהֶם; וְנֶגֶד פְּנֵיהֶם, נְבֹנִים. 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
כב   הוֹי, גִּבּוֹרִים לִשְׁתּוֹת יָיִן; וְאַנְשֵׁי-חַיִל, לִמְסֹךְ שֵׁכָר.22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;
כג   מַצְדִּיקֵי רָשָׁע, עֵקֶב שֹׁחַד; וְצִדְקַת צַדִּיקִים, יָסִירוּ מִמֶּנּוּ. 23 That justify the wicked for a reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
כד   לָכֵן כֶּאֱכֹל קַשׁ לְשׁוֹן אֵשׁ, וַחֲשַׁשׁ לֶהָבָה יִרְפֶּה, שָׁרְשָׁם כַּמָּק יִהְיֶה, וּפִרְחָם כָּאָבָק יַעֲלֶה:  כִּי מָאֲסוּ, אֵת תּוֹרַת יקוק צְבָאוֹת, וְאֵת אִמְרַת קְדוֹשׁ-יִשְׂרָאֵל, נִאֵצוּ.24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devoureth the stubble, and as the chaff is consumed in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust; because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and contemned the word of the Holy One of Israel.
כה   עַל-כֵּן חָרָה אַף-יקוק בְּעַמּוֹ וַיֵּט יָדוֹ עָלָיו וַיַּכֵּהוּ, וַיִּרְגְּזוּ הֶהָרִים, וַתְּהִי נִבְלָתָם כַּסּוּחָה, בְּקֶרֶב חוּצוֹת; בְּכָל-זֹאת לֹא-שָׁב אַפּוֹ, וְעוֹד יָדוֹ נְטוּיָה.25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against His people, and He hath stretched forth His hand against them, and hath smitten them, and the hills did tremble, and their carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
כו   וְנָשָׂא-נֵס לַגּוֹיִם מֵרָחוֹק, וְשָׁרַק לוֹ מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ; וְהִנֵּה מְהֵרָה, קַל יָבוֹא.26 And He will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth; and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly;
כז   אֵין-עָיֵף וְאֵין-כּוֹשֵׁל בּוֹ, לֹא יָנוּם וְלֹא יִישָׁן; וְלֹא נִפְתַּח אֵזוֹר חֲלָצָיו, וְלֹא נִתַּק שְׂרוֹךְ נְעָלָיו.27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken;
כח   אֲשֶׁר חִצָּיו שְׁנוּנִים, וְכָל-קַשְּׁתֹתָיו דְּרֻכוֹת; פַּרְסוֹת סוּסָיו כַּצַּר נֶחְשָׁבוּ, וְגַלְגִּלָּיו כַּסּוּפָה.28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind;
כט   שְׁאָגָה לוֹ, כַּלָּבִיא; ושאג (יִשְׁאַג) כַּכְּפִירִים וְיִנְהֹם וְיֹאחֵז טֶרֶף, וְיַפְלִיט וְאֵין מַצִּיל.29 Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions, yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and carry it away safe, and there shall be none to deliver.
ל   וְיִנְהֹם עָלָיו בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, כְּנַהֲמַת-יָם; וְנִבַּט לָאָרֶץ, וְהִנֵּה-חֹשֶׁךְ, צַר וָאוֹר, חָשַׁךְ בַּעֲרִיפֶיהָ. 30 And they shall roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea; and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and distress, and the light is darkened in the skies thereof.
ו:א   בִּשְׁנַת-מוֹת הַמֶּלֶךְ עֻזִּיָּהוּ, וָאֶרְאֶה אֶת-א-דני יֹשֵׁב עַל-כִּסֵּא רָם וְנִשָּׂא; וְשׁוּלָיו, מְלֵאִים אֶת-הַהֵיכָל.6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.
ב   שְׂרָפִים עֹמְדִים מִמַּעַל לוֹ, שֵׁשׁ כְּנָפַיִם שֵׁשׁ כְּנָפַיִם לְאֶחָד:  בִּשְׁתַּיִם יְכַסֶּה פָנָיו, וּבִשְׁתַּיִם יְכַסֶּה רַגְלָיו--וּבִשְׁתַּיִם יְעוֹפֵף.2 Above Him stood the seraphim; each one had six wings: with twain he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
ג   וְקָרָא זֶה אֶל-זֶה וְאָמַר, קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ קָדוֹשׁ יקוק צְבָאוֹת; מְלֹא כָל-הָאָרֶץ, כְּבוֹדוֹ.3 And one called unto another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.
ד   וַיָּנֻעוּ אַמּוֹת הַסִּפִּים, מִקּוֹל הַקּוֹרֵא; וְהַבַּיִת, יִמָּלֵא עָשָׁן.4 And the posts of the door were moved at the voice of them that called, and the house was filled with smoke.
ה   וָאֹמַר אוֹי-לִי כִי-נִדְמֵיתִי, כִּי אִישׁ טְמֵא-שְׂפָתַיִם אָנֹכִי, וּבְתוֹךְ עַם-טְמֵא שְׂפָתַיִם, אָנֹכִי יוֹשֵׁב:  כִּי, אֶת-הַמֶּלֶךְ יקוק צְבָאוֹת--רָאוּ עֵינָי.5 Then said I: Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
ו   וַיָּעָף אֵלַי, אֶחָד מִן-הַשְּׂרָפִים, וּבְיָדוֹ, רִצְפָּה; בְּמֶלְקַחַיִם--לָקַח, מֵעַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ.6 Then flew unto me one of the seraphim, with a glowing stone in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar;
ז   וַיַּגַּע עַל-פִּי--וַיֹּאמֶר, הִנֵּה נָגַע זֶה עַל-שְׂפָתֶיךָ; וְסָר עֲונֶךָ, וְחַטָּאתְךָ תְּכֻפָּר.7 and he touched my mouth with it, and said: Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin expiated.
ח   וָאֶשְׁמַע אֶת-קוֹל א-דני, אֹמֵר, אֶת-מִי אֶשְׁלַח, וּמִי יֵלֶךְ-לָנוּ; וָאֹמַר, הִנְנִי שְׁלָחֵנִי.8 And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: 'Here am I; send me.'
ט   וַיֹּאמֶר, לֵךְ וְאָמַרְתָּ לָעָם הַזֶּה:  שִׁמְעוּ שָׁמוֹעַ וְאַל-תָּבִינוּ, וּרְאוּ רָאוֹ וְאַל-תֵּדָעוּ.9 And He said: 'Go, and tell this people: hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
י   הַשְׁמֵן לֵב-הָעָם הַזֶּה, וְאָזְנָיו הַכְבֵּד וְעֵינָיו הָשַׁע:  פֶּן-יִרְאֶה בְעֵינָיו וּבְאָזְנָיו יִשְׁמָע, וּלְבָבוֹ יָבִין וָשָׁב--וְרָפָא לוֹ.10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they, seeing with their eyes, and hearing with their ears, and understanding with their heart, return, and be healed.'
יא   וָאֹמַר, עַד-מָתַי א-דני; וַיֹּאמֶר עַד אֲשֶׁר אִם-שָׁאוּ עָרִים מֵאֵין יוֹשֵׁב, וּבָתִּים מֵאֵין אָדָם, וְהָאֲדָמָה, תִּשָּׁאֶה שְׁמָמָה.11 Then said I: 'Lord, how long?' And He answered: 'Until cities be waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land become utterly waste,
יב   וְרִחַק יקוק, אֶת-הָאָדָם; וְרַבָּה הָעֲזוּבָה, בְּקֶרֶב הָאָרֶץ.12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land.
יג   וְעוֹד בָּהּ עֲשִׂרִיָּה, וְשָׁבָה וְהָיְתָה לְבָעֵר:  כָּאֵלָה וְכָאַלּוֹן, אֲשֶׁר בְּשַׁלֶּכֶת מַצֶּבֶת בָּם--זֶרַע קֹדֶשׁ, מַצַּבְתָּהּ. 13 And if there be yet a tenth in it, it shall again be eaten up; as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remaineth, when they cast their leaves, so the holy seed shall be the stock thereof.'
ז:א   וַיְהִי בִּימֵי אָחָז בֶּן-יוֹתָם בֶּן-עֻזִּיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה, עָלָה רְצִין מֶלֶךְ-אֲרָם וּפֶקַח בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ-יִשְׂרָאֵל יְרוּשָׁלִַם, לַמִּלְחָמָה, עָלֶיהָ; וְלֹא יָכֹל, לְהִלָּחֵם עָלֶיהָ.7:1 And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it; but could not prevail against it.
ב   וַיֻּגַּד, לְבֵית דָּוִד לֵאמֹר, נָחָה אֲרָם, עַל-אֶפְרָיִם; וַיָּנַע לְבָבוֹ וּלְבַב עַמּוֹ, כְּנוֹעַ עֲצֵי-יַעַר מִפְּנֵי-רוּחַ. 2 And it was told the house of David, saying: 'Aram is confederate with Ephraim.' And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moved with the wind.
ג   וַיֹּאמֶר יקוק, אֶל-יְשַׁעְיָהוּ, צֵא-נָא לִקְרַאת אָחָז, אַתָּה וּשְׁאָר יָשׁוּב בְּנֶךָ:  אֶל-קְצֵה, תְּעָלַת הַבְּרֵכָה הָעֶלְיוֹנָה--אֶל-מְסִלַּת, שְׂדֵה כוֹבֵס.3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah: 'Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fullers' field;
ד   וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו הִשָּׁמֵר וְהַשְׁקֵט אַל-תִּירָא, וּלְבָבְךָ אַל-יֵרַךְ, מִשְּׁנֵי זַנְבוֹת הָאוּדִים הָעֲשֵׁנִים, הָאֵלֶּה--בָּחֳרִי-אַף רְצִין וַאֲרָם, וּבֶן-רְמַלְיָהוּ.4 and say unto him: Keep calm, and be quiet; fear not, neither let thy heart be faint, because of these two tails of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and of the son of Remaliah.
ה   יַעַן, כִּי-יָעַץ עָלֶיךָ אֲרָם--רָעָה:  אֶפְרַיִם וּבֶן-רְמַלְיָהוּ, לֵאמֹר.5 Because Aram hath counselled evil against thee, Ephraim also, and the son of Remaliah, saying:
ו   נַעֲלֶה בִיהוּדָה וּנְקִיצֶנָּה, וְנַבְקִעֶנָּה אֵלֵינוּ; וְנַמְלִיךְ מֶלֶךְ בְּתוֹכָהּ, אֵת בֶּן-טָבְאַל. 6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set up a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeel;
ז   כֹּה אָמַר, א-דני יקוק:  לֹא תָקוּם, וְלֹא תִהְיֶה.7 thus saith the Lord GOD: It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
ח   כִּי רֹאשׁ אֲרָם דַּמֶּשֶׂק, וְרֹאשׁ דַּמֶּשֶׂק רְצִין; וּבְעוֹד, שִׁשִּׁים וְחָמֵשׁ שָׁנָה, יֵחַת אֶפְרַיִם, מֵעָם.8 For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people;
ט   וְרֹאשׁ אֶפְרַיִם שֹׁמְרוֹן, וְרֹאשׁ שֹׁמְרוֹן בֶּן-רְמַלְיָהוּ; אִם לֹא תַאֲמִינוּ, כִּי לֹא תֵאָמֵנוּ. 9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not have faith, surely ye shall not be established.'
י   וַיּוֹסֶף יקוק, דַּבֵּר אֶל-אָחָז לֵאמֹר.10 And the LORD spoke again unto Ahaz, saying:
יא   שְׁאַל-לְךָ אוֹת, מֵעִם יקוק א-לקיךָ; הַעְמֵק שְׁאָלָה, אוֹ הַגְבֵּהַּ לְמָעְלָה.11 'Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God: ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.'
יב   וַיֹּאמֶר, אָחָז:  לֹא-אֶשְׁאַל וְלֹא-אֲנַסֶּה, אֶת-יקוק.12 But Ahaz said: 'I will not ask, neither will I try the LORD.'
יג   וַיֹּאמֶר, שִׁמְעוּ-נָא בֵּית דָּוִד:  הַמְעַט מִכֶּם הַלְאוֹת אֲנָשִׁים, כִּי תַלְאוּ גַּם אֶת-א-לקי.13 And he said: 'Hear ye now, O house of David: Is it a small thing for you to weary men, that ye will weary my God also?
יד   לָכֵן יִתֵּן א-דני הוּא, לָכֶם--אוֹת:  הִנֵּה הָעַלְמָה, הָרָה וְיֹלֶדֶת בֵּן, וְקָרָאת שְׁמוֹ, עִמָּנוּ אֵל.14 Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
טו   חֶמְאָה וּדְבַשׁ, יֹאכֵל--לְדַעְתּוֹ מָאוֹס בָּרָע, וּבָחוֹר בַּטּוֹב.15 Curd and honey shall he eat, when he knoweth to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
טז   כִּי בְּטֶרֶם יֵדַע הַנַּעַר, מָאֹס בָּרָע--וּבָחֹר בַּטּוֹב:  תֵּעָזֵב הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה קָץ, מִפְּנֵי שְׁנֵי מְלָכֶיהָ.16 Yea, before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings thou hast a horror of shall be forsaken.
יז   יָבִיא יקוק עָלֶיךָ, וְעַל-עַמְּךָ וְעַל-בֵּית אָבִיךָ, יָמִים אֲשֶׁר לֹא-בָאוּ, לְמִיּוֹם סוּר-אֶפְרַיִם מֵעַל יְהוּדָה:  אֵת, מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר. 17 The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.'
יח   וְהָיָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, יִשְׁרֹק יקוק לַזְּבוּב, אֲשֶׁר בִּקְצֵה, יְאֹרֵי מִצְרָיִם; וְלַדְּבוֹרָה--אֲשֶׁר, בְּאֶרֶץ אַשּׁוּר.18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
יט   וּבָאוּ וְנָחוּ כֻלָּם בְּנַחֲלֵי הַבַּתּוֹת, וּבִנְקִיקֵי הַסְּלָעִים; וּבְכֹל, הַנַּעֲצוּצִים, וּבְכֹל, הַנַּהֲלֹלִים.19 And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the rugged valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all brambles.
כ   בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יְגַלַּח א-דני בְּתַעַר הַשְּׂכִירָה בְּעֶבְרֵי נָהָר, בְּמֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר, אֶת-הָרֹאשׁ, וְשַׂעַר הָרַגְלָיִם; וְגַם אֶת-הַזָּקָן, תִּסְפֶּה. 20 In that day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also sweep away the beard.
כא   וְהָיָה, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא; יְחַיֶּה-אִישׁ עֶגְלַת בָּקָר, וּשְׁתֵּי-צֹאן.21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall rear a young cow, and two sheep;
כב   וְהָיָה, מֵרֹב עֲשׂוֹת חָלָב--יֹאכַל חֶמְאָה:  כִּי-חֶמְאָה וּדְבַשׁ יֹאכֵל, כָּל-הַנּוֹתָר בְּקֶרֶב הָאָרֶץ. 22 and it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give, he shall eat curd; for curd and honey shall every one eat that is left in the midst of the land.
כג   וְהָיָה, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא--יִהְיֶה כָל-מָקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה-שָּׁם אֶלֶף גֶּפֶן, בְּאֶלֶף כָּסֶף:  לַשָּׁמִיר וְלַשַּׁיִת, יִהְיֶה.23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, shall even be for briers and thorns.
כד   בַּחִצִּים וּבַקֶּשֶׁת, יָבוֹא שָׁמָּה:  כִּי-שָׁמִיר וָשַׁיִת, תִּהְיֶה כָל-הָאָרֶץ.24 With arrows and with bow shall one come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.
כה   וְכֹל הֶהָרִים, אֲשֶׁר בַּמַּעְדֵּר יֵעָדֵרוּן--לֹא-תָבוֹא שָׁמָּה, יִרְאַת שָׁמִיר וָשָׁיִת; וְהָיָה לְמִשְׁלַח שׁוֹר, וּלְמִרְמַס שֶׂה. 25 And all the hills that were digged with the mattock, thou shalt not come thither for fear of briers and thorns, but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.
ח:א   וַיֹּאמֶר יקוק אֵלַי, קַח-לְךָ גִּלָּיוֹן גָּדוֹל; וּכְתֹב עָלָיו בְּחֶרֶט אֱנוֹשׁ, לְמַהֵר שָׁלָל חָשׁ בַּז.8:1 And the LORD said unto me: 'Take thee a great tablet, and write upon it in common script: The spoil speedeth, the prey hasteth;
ב   וְאָעִידָה לִּי, עֵדִים נֶאֱמָנִים--אֵת אוּרִיָּה הַכֹּהֵן, וְאֶת-זְכַרְיָהוּ בֶּן יְבֶרֶכְיָהוּ.2 and I will take unto Me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.'
ג   וָאֶקְרַב, אֶל-הַנְּבִיאָה, וַתַּהַר, וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן;   וַיֹּאמֶר יקוק, אֵלַי, קְרָא שְׁמוֹ, מַהֵר שָׁלָל חָשׁ בַּז.3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son.Then said the LORD unto me: 'Call his name Maher-shalal-hashbaz.
ד   כִּי, בְּטֶרֶם יֵדַע הַנַּעַר, קְרֹא, אָבִי וְאִמִּי--יִשָּׂא אֶת-חֵיל דַּמֶּשֶׂק, וְאֵת שְׁלַל שֹׁמְרוֹן, לִפְנֵי, מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר. 4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry: My father, and: My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.'
ה   וַיֹּסֶף יקוק, דַּבֵּר אֵלַי עוֹד לֵאמֹר.5 And the LORD spoke unto me yet again, saying:
ו   יַעַן, כִּי מָאַס הָעָם הַזֶּה, אֵת מֵי הַשִּׁלֹחַ, הַהֹלְכִים לְאַט; וּמְשׂוֹשׂ אֶת-רְצִין, וּבֶן-רְמַלְיָהוּ.6 Forasmuch as this people hath refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoiceth with Rezin and Remaliah's son;
ז   וְלָכֵן הִנֵּה א-דני מַעֲלֶה עֲלֵיהֶם אֶת-מֵי הַנָּהָר, הָעֲצוּמִים וְהָרַבִּים--אֶת-מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר, וְאֶת-כָּל-כְּבוֹדוֹ; וְעָלָה, עַל-כָּל-אֲפִיקָיו, וְהָלַךְ, עַל-כָּל-גְּדוֹתָיו.7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, mighty and many, even the king of Assyria and all his glory; and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks;
ח   וְחָלַף בִּיהוּדָה שָׁטַף וְעָבַר, עַד-צַוָּאר יַגִּיעַ; וְהָיָה מֻטּוֹת כְּנָפָיו, מְלֹא רֹחַב-אַרְצְךָ עִמָּנוּ אֵל. 8 And he shall sweep through Judah overflowing as he passeth through he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
ט   רֹעוּ עַמִּים, וָחֹתּוּ, וְהַאֲזִינוּ, כֹּל מֶרְחַקֵּי-אָרֶץ; הִתְאַזְּרוּ וָחֹתּוּ, הִתְאַזְּרוּ וָחֹתּוּ.9 Make an uproar, O ye peoples, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
י   עֻצוּ עֵצָה, וְתֻפָר; דַּבְּרוּ דָבָר וְלֹא יָקוּם, כִּי עִמָּנוּ אֵל. 10 Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand; for God is with us.
יא   כִּי כֹה אָמַר יקוק אֵלַי, כְּחֶזְקַת הַיָּד; וְיִסְּרֵנִי, מִלֶּכֶת בְּדֶרֶךְ הָעָם-הַזֶּה לֵאמֹר.11 For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, admonishing me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:
יב   לֹא-תֹאמְרוּן קֶשֶׁר, לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יֹאמַר הָעָם הַזֶּה קָשֶׁר; וְאֶת-מוֹרָאוֹ לֹא-תִירְאוּ, וְלֹא תַעֲרִיצוּ.12 'Say ye not: A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people do say: A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor account it dreadful.
יג   אֶת-יקוק צְבָאוֹת, אֹתוֹ תַקְדִּישׁוּ; וְהוּא מוֹרַאֲכֶם, וְהוּא מַעֲרִצְכֶם.13 The LORD of hosts, Him shall ye sanctify; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.
יד   וְהָיָה, לְמִקְדָּשׁ; וּלְאֶבֶן נֶגֶף וּלְצוּר מִכְשׁוֹל לִשְׁנֵי בָתֵּי יִשְׂרָאֵל, לְפַח וּלְמוֹקֵשׁ--לְיוֹשֵׁב, יְרוּשָׁלִָם.14 And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
טו   וְכָשְׁלוּ בָם, רַבִּים; וְנָפְלוּ וְנִשְׁבָּרוּ, וְנוֹקְשׁוּ וְנִלְכָּדוּ. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.'
טז   צוֹר, תְּעוּדָה; חֲתוֹם תּוֹרָה, בְּלִמֻּדָי.16 'Bind up the testimony, seal the instruction among My disciples.'
יז   וְחִכִּיתִי, לַיקוק, הַמַּסְתִּיר פָּנָיו, מִבֵּית יַעֲקֹב; וְקִוֵּיתִי-לוֹ.17 And I will wait for the LORD, that hideth His face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for Him.
יח   הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי, וְהַיְלָדִים אֲשֶׁר נָתַן-לִי יקוק, לְאֹתוֹת וּלְמוֹפְתִים, בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל--מֵעִם יקוק צְבָאוֹת, הַשֹּׁכֵן בְּהַר צִיּוֹן. 18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me shall be for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion.
יט   וְכִי-יֹאמְרוּ אֲלֵיכֶם, דִּרְשׁוּ אֶל-הָאֹבוֹת וְאֶל-הַיִּדְּעֹנִים, הַמְצַפְצְפִים, וְהַמַּהְגִּים:  הֲלוֹא-עַם אֶל-אֱלֹהָיו יִדְרֹשׁ, בְּעַד הַחַיִּים אֶל-הַמֵּתִים.19 And when they shall say unto you: 'Seek unto the ghosts and the familiar spirits, that chirp and that mutter; should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living unto the dead
כ   לְתוֹרָה, וְלִתְעוּדָה; אִם-לֹא יֹאמְרוּ כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה, אֲשֶׁר אֵין-לוֹ שָׁחַר.20 for instruction and for testimony?'--Surely they will speak according to this word, wherein there is no light.--
כא   וְעָבַר בָּהּ, נִקְשֶׁה וְרָעֵב; וְהָיָה כִי-יִרְעַב וְהִתְקַצַּף, וְקִלֵּל בְּמַלְכּוֹ וּבֵא-לקיו--וּפָנָה לְמָעְלָה.21 And they shall pass this way that are sore bestead and hungry; and it shall come to pass that, when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and, whether they turn their faces upward,
כב   וְאֶל-אֶרֶץ, יַבִּיט; וְהִנֵּה צָרָה וַחֲשֵׁכָה מְעוּף צוּקָה, וַאֲפֵלָה מְנֻדָּח.22 or look unto the earth, behold distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and outspread thick darkness.
כג   כִּי לֹא מוּעָף, לַאֲשֶׁר מוּצָק לָהּ, כָּעֵת הָרִאשׁוֹן הֵקַל אַרְצָה זְבֻלוּן וְאַרְצָה נַפְתָּלִי, וְהָאַחֲרוֹן הִכְבִּיד--דֶּרֶךְ הַיָּם עֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן, גְּלִיל הַגּוֹיִם.23 For is there no gloom to her that was stedfast? Now the former hath lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but the latter hath dealt a more grievous blow by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in the district of the nations.
