Avodah Zarah Chart #3a

Avodah Zarah Daf 25b

WHEN IS IT PROHIBITED FOR A WOMAN TO BE ALONE WITH A NOCHRI,
AND WHY (according to Rashi)?
  (A)
A WOMAN WHO IS SPECIAL AMONG WOMEN (that is, she is pretty)
(B)
A WOMAN WHO IS NOT SPECIAL AMONG WOMEN (that is, she is not pretty)
1) A WOMAN WHO IS SPECIAL AMONG MEN (that is, she is related to nobility) Killing: Not at risk
Ervah : She is at risk
Killing: Not at risk
Ervah : Machlokes(1)*
2) A WOMAN WHO IS NOT SPECIAL AMONG MEN (that is, she is not related to nobility) Killing: Machlokes(2)
Ervah : She is at risk
Killing: Machlokes(2)
Ervah : Machlokes(1)
* This case is the difference between the opinions of Rebbi Yirmeyah and Rav Idi, as the Gemara mentions. According to Rebbi Yirmeyah, such a woman is permitted to be alone with a Nochri, while according to Rav Idi, such a woman is prohibited to be alone with a Nochri.

==========
FOOTNOTES:
==========
(1) According to Rav Idi, an ugly woman is also at risk for Ervah, since she also has her "Klei Zayenah Aleha" (she is able to persuade the Nochri not to kill her, but to keep her for immoral purposes). According to Rebbi Yirmeyah, an ugly woman is not at risk for Ervah.
(2) According to Rav Idi, a woman is *never* at risk of being killed, even one who is not "important among the men" (and who is ugly), since he holds that a woman always has her "Klei Zayenah Aleha" and can persuade the Nochri not to kill her, but to keep her for immoral purposes.
