FOOTNOTES:

(1) Vayikra 13:47 (see Toras Kohanim there, who learns that even *less* than 3 X 3 Etzba'os can become Tamei, and the Vilna Ga'on there who emends the text and writes that it should read "less than 3 X 3 *Tefachim*.")
(2) Vayikra 13:47
(3) Vayikra 13:59
(4) Vayikra 11:32
(5) Rava maintains that the Halachah that wool and linen which are 3 X 3 Etzba'os can become Tamei with Tum'as Sheratzim is derived from Tum'as Nega'im. Even though the laws of Nega'im are more stringent than the laws of Sheratzim, nevertheless we are able to derive the Halachah from there because it is not an absolute Binyan Av, but rather merely a Giluy Milsa (an indication) that a piece of cloth whose size is 3 X 3 Etzba'os is called "Beged" (Tosfos 27a, DH she'Ken).
(6) Abaye maintains that we do not learn the laws of Tum'as Nega'im and the laws of Sheratzim from each other, because each is more stringent than the other in a certain respect (i.e. Tum'as Nega'im is more stringent in that it applies to even Shesi v'Erev, and Tum'as Sheratzim is more stringent in that it is caused by even a Sheretz the size of a lentil). However, the fact that 3 X 3 *Tefachim* can become Tamei with Tum'as Sheratzim does not need to be derived from a verse. The verse already says that a "Beged" becomes Tamei, and it stands to reason that there is no difference between a full-sized garment and one which is 3 X 3 Tefachim since both of them are fit to be used by wealthy people (Tosfos DH Asi b'Kal v'Chomer).
