SUMMARY

1. The Ketores offered on Yom Kippur was ground extra fine.

2. Some things were done differently on Yom Kippur to show the importance of the Kohen Gadol.

3. There is a dispute about how many fires were made on a daily basis in the Beis ha'Mikdash.

4. Everyone agrees that at least two separate fires were made every day.

5. Rebbi Yosi maintains that an additional fire was arranged on the Mizbe'ach in order to ensure that the main fire remained lit.

A BIT MORE

1. This is derived from the verse that says that the Ketores on Yom Kippur should be "fine," implying that it should be ground more finely than the Ketores brought during the year.

2. For example, when the Kohen Gadol would wash his hands and feet during the year, he would wash from the Kiyor as would all the Kohanim. However, on Yom Kippur he washed from a special golden vessel to show his importance.

3. The argument applies on ordinary days. Everyone agrees that an extra fire was made on Yom Kippur for bringing the special Ketores in the Kodesh ha'Kodashim.

4. One fire on the Mizbe'ach was to burn the Korbanos, and one fire was for the Ketores brought twice each day by the Kohen Gadol.

5. Rebbi: There was a third fire on the Mizbe'ach in order to burn the limbs of the previous day's Korbanos that had not yet been totally burned.
