MENACHOS 95 (10 Sivan) - dedicated by Mrs. Rita Grunberger of Queens, N.Y., in loving memory of her husband, Reb Yitzchok Yakov ben Eliyahu Grunberger, for his Yahrzeit. Irving Grunberger helped many people quietly in an unassuming manner and he is dearly missed by all who knew him.

SUMMARY

1. If the Lechem ha'Panim remained on the Shulchan while the Mishkan was in transit, it does not become Pasul with Yotzei.

2. When the Mishkan was in transit, Kodshim became Pasul with Yotzei, and the Lechem ha'Panim which was taken off the Shulchan became Pasul with Yotzei.

3. When the Mishkan was in transit, there is a disagreement about whether Zavim and Metzora'im could enter the Machaneh.

4. The Bnei Yisrael in the Midbar traveled by day and by night. At times they even started traveling at night.

5. If a Zav or Metzora enters the Azarah when the Korban Pesach is brought b'Tum'ah, they are not Chayav.

6. The Tana Kama says that the Shtei ha'Lechem and Lechem ha'Panim are kneaded and shaped outside the Azarah, but are baked in the Azarah. They may not be baked on Shabbos.

7. Rebbi Yehudah maintains that the Shtei ha'Lechem and Lechem ha'Panim are also kneaded and shaped inside the Azarah.

8. Rebbi Shimon maintains that the Shtei ha'Lechem and Lechem ha'Panim may be kneaded and shaped and also baked outside the Azarah.

9. When the Lechem ha'Panim is removed from the Shulchan on Shabbos, there is no longer a Chiyuv Me'ilah, even if a non-Kohen eats from it.

A BIT MORE

1. Even though the curtains were rolled up and the Shulchan was no longer in the Ohel Mo'ed, since the Lechem ha'Panim remained on the Shulchan it remains Kosher. This is learned from the verse in the Torah which states, "Lechem ha'Panim Alav Tamid," which implies that as long as the Lechem ha'Panim is on the Shulchan, it is Kosher, even if the Shulchan is in transit.

2. Since the curtains of the Mishkan were rolled up, the Kodshim became Pasul with Yotzei, as they no longer were in the Ohel Mo'ed (which was dismantled), and even the Lechem ha'Panim became Pasul if it was taken off the Shulchan.

3. According to the Rabanan, even though the curtains of the Mishkan were rolled up, a Metzora was required to stay outside the Machaneh Yisrael, and a Zav outside the Machaneh Leviyah. Rebbi Eliezer disagrees, because he maintains that if a Tamei Mes is not prohibited from entering the Machaneh Shechinah, then a Metzora and Zav also are not prohibited from entering the Machaneh Yisrael and Leviyah, and when the Mishkan was in transit there was no Machaneh Shechinah.

4. When they started traveling at night, the Kodshim and Lechem ha'Panim which had not yet become Pasul with Linah became Pasul with Yotzei.

5. If most of the Tzibur is Tamei Mes, the Korban Pesach is brought b'Tum'ah. However, only a Tamei Mes may bring the Korban Pesach, not a Zav or a Metzora. However, according to Rebbi Eliezer, if a Zav or Metzora enters the Azarah, he is not Chayav. The Rabanan disagree.

6. According to the Tana Kama, although the measure of the Isaron which is used to measure the flour is not sanctified, the oven that is used to bake the breads is sanctified. Therefore, the breads are baked in the Azarah.

7. According to Rebbi Yehudah, the measures and the oven in the Azarah are sanctified, and the Shtei ha'Lechem and Lechem ha'Panim become sanctified with Kedushas ha'Guf. Hence, if they would be baked on Erev Shabbos, they would become Pasul with Linah,

8. According to Rebbi Shimon, the breads may not be baked on Shabbos because they are not sanctified with a Kedushas ha'Guf. If they are baked on Erev Shabbos, they do not become Pasul with Linah.

9. After the breads of the Lechem ha'Panim are removed from the Shulchan, and the Levonah in the Bazichin is burned on the Mizbe'ach, the breads are permitted to the Kohanim. There is no Chiyuv Me'ilah for Kodshim which are permitted to the Kohanim.
