SUMMARY

1. Hashem revealed when Mashi'ach will arrive only to His heart.

2. Rebbi Yochanan says the prophecies of the Nevi'im are describing the days of Mashi'ach. However, Shmuel learns that the only difference between now and the days of Mashi'ach is that we will be independent.

3. Rebbi Yochanan says, perfect Tzadikim are on a more lofty level than Ba'alei Teshuvah. Rebbi Avahu argues, saying that in the place where Ba'alei Teshuvah stand even perfect Tzadikim cannot stand.

4. Rebbi Yochanan says the prophecies of the Nevi'im are for those who marry off their daughter to a Talmid Chacham, who provide business opportunities for a Talmid Chacham, or who use their possessions to help Talmidei Chachamim.

5. Someone who says that the Torah is not from Heaven does not receive a share in the World to Come.

6. A person was born to toil in Torah.

7. Timna was a princess who wanted to become a Giyores. However, she was rejected by Avraham, Yitzchak and Yakov. So instead she became a concubine to Elifaz the son of Esav.

8. Rebbi Alexandri says, anyone who learns Torah Lishmah creates peace in heaven and on earth.

9. Reish Lakish says, when a person teaches Torah to the son of his friend it is regarded as if he created him.

10. Rav and Rebbi Chanina say that an Apikores is someone who disgraces a Talmid Chacham. Rebbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish say it is a person who disgraces his friend in front of a Talmid Chacham.

11. Rav and Rebbi Chanina learn that a Megaleh Panim ba'Torah is someone who disgraces a Talmid Chacham (according to the second version presented in the Gemara). Rebbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish maintain that it is a person who disgraces his friend in front of a Talmid Chacham.

A BIT MORE

1. Rebbi Yochanan says that Hashem revealed it to His heart but not to His limbs. He did not allow the limbs to hear. Reish Lakish says that Hashem revealed it to His heart, but He did not reveal it to the Mal'achei ha'Shares.

2. According to Rebbi Yochanan, the prophecies of the Nevi'im were not about the World to Come, which no eye has ever seen. Shmuel maintains that the prophecies of the Nevi'im were about the World to Come.

3. Rebbi Yochanan says that the prophecies of the Nevi'im are for Ba'alei Teshuvah, but not for complete Tzadikim, for whom no eye has seen their reward. Rebbi Avahu says that the Ba'alei Teshuvah are even greater than complete Tzadikim.

4. However, no eye has seen the reward which will be given to the Talmidei Chachamim themselves.

5. Even if a person says that the entire Torah is given from Heaven except for one verse which Moshe Rabeinu said on his own, he does not have a share in the World to Come.

6. Since it is inevitable that a person must toil in this world, it is best for him to toil in Torah rather than anything else.

7. Timna said, "It is better that I should be a concubine in this nation than a princess in any other nation." She gave birth to Amalek, who was hostile to Klal Yisrael. This was a punishment for the refusal of the Avos to accept her as a Giyores.

8. Rav says that one who learns Torah Lishmah is considered as though he builds a palace in heaven and earth. Rebbi Yochanan says he protects the entire world. Levi says he brings the redemption closer.

9. Rebbi Elazar says that one who teaches Torah to another man's son is regarded as though he made the words of Torah themselves. Rava says that he is regarded as though he made himself.

10. According to Rav and Rebbi Chanina, a person who is Doresh Agados Shel Dofi like Menasheh is Megaleh Panim b'Torah. Rebbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish say a person who disgraces a Talmid Chacham is a Megaleh Panim b'Torah.

11. According to this version, Rav and Rebbi Chanina learn that an Apikorus is someone who disgraces his friend in front of a Talmid Chacham. Rebbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish learn that an Apikorus is a person who sits in front of his Rebbi and quotes a Gemara without mentioning that he heard it from his Rebbi.
