SUMMARY

1. If a person is uncircumcised ("Arel"), he may not perform the Avodah.
 
2. If a Kohen Hedyot performs the Avodah while he is an Onen, the Avodah is Pasul.
 
3. A Kohen may only perform the Avodah while standing.
 
4. If a Ba'al Mum performs the Avodah, there is a disagreement if he is Chayav Misah.
 
5. If someone benefits from Hekdesh b'Mezid, there is a disagreement if he is Chayav Misah.
 
6. A non-Kohen who performs the Avodah in the Beis ha'Mikdash is Chayav Misah.
 
7. There is a disagreement if a Navi who is Medi'ach others to worship Avodah Zarah is punished with Chenek or Sekilah.
 
8. If a person strikes one of his parents, he is Chayav Chenek.
 
9. One who kills a Katan is Chayav Misah.
 
10. A son who draws blood from his father or mother for a medical purpose is Patur from Misah.
 
11. It is permitted to handle a small needle on Shabbos, and to use it to remove a thorn from one's skin.

A BIT MORE

1. An apostate is called "Arel Lev." One who was not circumcised because his brothers died from the circumcision is called "Arel Basar." Both are prohibited from performing Avodah in the Beis ha'Mikdash.
 
2. Only a Kohen Gadol may perform the Avodah while he is an Onen.
 
3. A Kohen who performs the Avodah while he is sitting is comparable to a non-Kohen who performs Avodah, and his Avodah is Pasul.
 
4. Rebbi holds that if a Ba'al Mum performs the Avodah he is Chayav Misah. The Rabanan maintain that he transgresses a Lav, but he is not punished with Misah.
 
5. Rebbi maintains that if a person benefits from Hekdesh he is Chayav Misah. The Rabanan maintain that he transgresses a Lav, but he is not punished with Misah.
 
6. Rebbi Yishmael maintains that he is Chayav Misah b'Yedei Shamayim. Rebbi Shimon maintains that according to Rebbi Akiva he is Chayav Sekilah. The Rabanan maintain that according to Rebbi Akiva he is Chayav Chenek. Rebbi Yochanan Ben Nuri says he is Chayav Chenek.
 
7. The Rabanan maintain the Navi is Chayav Chenek. Rebbi Shimon maintains he is Chayav Sekilah.
 
8. He is only Chayav Misah if he wounds his parent and causes him to bleed.
 
9. However, if a person kills a Nefel he is Patur.
 
10.Nevertheless, Rav did not allow his son to remove a thorn from him. He was afraid that his son would draw blood, causing a transgression of a Chiyuv Misah b'Shogeg.
 
11. We are not concerned about the possibility of blood being drawn, because drawing blood in such a manner is Mekalkel (a harmful act), which is only prohibited mid'Rabanan. Even according to Rebbi Shimon, who maintains that with regards to the prohibition of causing a wound, Mekalkel is Chayav, it is permitted to remove the thorn. This is because causing a wound while removing the thorn is a Melachah she'Einah Tzerichah l'Gufah, for which Rebbi Shimon maintains that one is Patur.
