QUESTIONS ON RASHI

2)

Rashi writes: "'May we find favor in our master's eyes' - to do for us as he has said." What is Rashi adding?

1.

Gur Aryeh: We should not combine this phrase with the next, to mean 'may we find favor in our master's eyes, that we may be slaves unto Pharaoh.' To become a slave does not need a favor! Rather, these are two separate ideas - "Let us find favor in your eyes to do this for us [i.e. to grant us seed now, and allow us to keep four-fifths of the yield]. As for our part, we shall be slaves unto Pharaoh."
