What are the connotations of "Yamim"?

1.

Rashi and Rashbam: It means one year. 1

1

What is the source? Kesuvos 57b learns (regarding Rivkah - Bereishis 24:55) that Yamim is 12 months, like it means in Vayikra 25:29. (PF). Do not say that it means less (as in Bamidbar 11:20); for that verse says "a month of Yamim," whereas our verse says only "Yamim." We should therefore derive from Vayikra 25 instead (Rashbam, Gur Aryeh).

2)

Why does it say "va'Yifkod... Yosef Itam, va'Yeshares Osam"? "Itam" is superfluous!

1.

Ha'amek Davar: He raised Yosef from the pit to serve them. He was company for them, for he knew the Chochmos of baking and making wine.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

3)

Rashi writes: "'Va'Yifkod Yosef with them' - i.e. to be along with them." What is Rashi adding?

1.

Gur Aryeh: What does Pekidah mean here? 1 It must mean to appoint; Yosef's master appointed him to join these two officials and serve them.

1

It cannot mean that he remembered the three (e.g. to bring them relief (as in Bereishis 21:1) or to punish them (as in Shemos 32:34)); for that prerogative belonged to Pharaoh alone. (CS)
