(Mishnah): We may not buy wool, milk or kids from shepherds (perhaps they stole them);

We may not buy fruit or wood from people who guard fruit;

However, we may buy from women woolen garments in Yehudah, linen garments in Galil, and calves in Sharon.

If the seller says to conceal it, it is always forbidden.

Everywhere, one may buy eggs and chickens.

(Gemara - Beraisa): We do not accept deposits from [married] women, slaves and minors;

(Mishnah): Launderers may keep tufts that they remove from clothing;

What a fuller (one who cleans and shrinks wool) removes, he must return it to the owner (of the garment).

(b)

If a launderer removes three threads to even out a garment, he may keep them. If he removes more, he must return them to the owner.

If there are black threads on a white garment, he may keep as many as there are (for they detract from the garment).

(Gemara): Aba Hoshayah Ish Taryei was a launderer. He made a garment [for himself] from one kind of wool, lest people say that he wears from [what he took from] our [garments].

WHEN A TAILOR MUST RETURN EXCESS THREAD (Yerushalmi Perek 10 Halachah 11 Daf 44b)

(a)

(Mishnah): If a tailor had enough thread left over to sew with, or cut off a piece of material three by three [fingers], the owner gets it;

Shavings shaved off by a Ma'atzad (plane) belong to the carpenter. Those from a Keshil (big plane) belong to the owner.

If he is working in the owner's house, even sawdust from a drill belongs to the owner.

(Gemara - R. Chiyah - Beraisa): [Enough to sew with] is the length of a needle.

(R. Yanai's academy): This means twice the length of a needle.

Question: Do [R. Yanai's academy] argue [with our versions of the Beraisos of R. Chiyah and Bar Kapara]?

Answer: (They do not argue.) What R. Chiyah taught 'the length of a needle', they explain that it means twice the length of a needle. (If it were only the length of a needle, one could not sew it into the garment!)

What Bar Kaparah taught enough to pull it through via a needle, they explain that it means twice the Shi'ur to pull it through via a needle (for before inserting the needle in the garment, the length of the needle is outside the garment. So it seems to explain according to GRA's text.)
