If the deceased father left over some adult sons and some children, if the adults improved the value of the property, the profit is divided equally with the younger children.

If they said in front of Beis Din - "See what our father left us, we will work and improve it" - they improve it (solely) for themselves.

Similarly, if a woman improved the property, the improvements are shared equally. If she said, "See what my husband left for me; I will work and improve it" - if it improves, she receives all of the profits.

(Gemara): Rebbi said that the stipulation must be said in Beis Din.

Bei R. Yanai: (When the Mishnah said 'see what our father left us') it refers even to a large vessel (not only to a field), if it is rented out.

Rav: Even a basket or a hatchet (if rented out, the older children can stipulate and then receive all of the profits).

Beraisa (R. Chiya): Even a needle or a vessel with a tightly sealing lid.
